Spring break is over

Here are some photos from the last half of my spring break. On Friday we ate breakfast at a local restaurant that uses local, organic ingredients. I got oatmeal and it was topped with maple syrup (I think), jam, toasted oats, and nuts. Also it had thinly sliced pear and a strawberry. It was really delicious!

It was so filling I only ate half of it!

After breakfast (which we ate at like 10:30 so it was really brunch) we went to the library so I could get The Graduate. I wanted to watch it since it had Simon & Garfunkel music in it, and I realized later that the Simpsons episode, Lady Bouvier’s Lover (season 5 disc 4 episode 4) was a parody of The Graduate. It was really interesting and I had never noticed that before. I’m not sure I completely understood everything that happened in the movie but in the Simpson’s episode Grampa Simpson is on the second floor area of the church banging on the glass yelling, “MRS. BOUVIER!” and then he falls through and then they go to a bus and sit there and a parodied version of The Sound of Silence.

I ate the rest of my oatmeal on Saturday morning and we went to Noodles & Company for lunch because I had a coupon for a free Noodles dish because of my birthday. Apparently it was extremely filling oatmeal because I got a small Pasta Fresca with chicken and I couldn’t even finish it.

It was really yummy though, and by the way I got it with Parmesan cheese. I thought I liked feta cheese but I guess I don’t. Anything I would eat that has feta cheese in it I would just not eat the feta cheese.

For breakfast on Sunday I had a frozen waffle (toasted) with ricotta cheese (sweetened with a pinch of sugar) and strawberries (actually one large strawberry sliced. It was yummier than I thought it would be. The only times I’ve ever had ricotta cheese is when I eat lasagna on Christmas Eve. I got the idea from Iowa Girl Eats from this post: http://iowagirleats.com/2009/08/28/the-good-the-bad-the-zucchini-bread/

I’m going to make homemade English muffins sometime. I was going to do it today but we don’t have enough flour and at the store they only had bleached flour. I don’t know when I’m going to do it but it is going to happen.

As for my Multnomah shawl, I keep screwing up even though it is only garters stitch and increases and I don’t think I’m any farther than I was the last time I posted. But here is a picture anyway.

Birthday

Today is my 19th birthday!

I was going to make waffles, but I woke up too late to do that so I made toast with some cinnamon swirl bread we had. Sometime I want to make homemade cinnamon bread and make French toast with it. I bet it would taste really awesome.

Then I opened my presents. I got a new camera! It’s a Canon Powershot A1200 and I also got Dark Chocolate M&M’s, Coconut M&M’s, and a 4 gig card and batteries for my camera. I also got two packs of sunflower seeds.

It is way better than my old camera which was at least 6 years old. It takes pictures faster and the pictures aren’t as blurry in average light.

For lunch we made the Pioneer Woman’s Meatballs with Peppers and Pineapple. It was really delicious and I love pineapple so it was all good.

Then we did Happy Birthday and ate my cupcakes. I made Sugarcrafter’s Lemon Cupcakes with Lemon Curd Filling and Lemon Buttercream Frosting.

They are so tangy and lemony! The last time I made cupcakes was a month ago with my sister. We wanted to make cupcakes for funsies but they weren’t the best cupcakes. Maybe the recipe wasn’t that good or something. The lemon cupcakes are way better than those other cupcakes. I am looking forward to sharing them with the people at my knit night tomorrow.

Here are a bunch of pictures I took today with my camera.

My dog has to wear an e-collar because she has a hot spot on her leg that she keeps licking. She is silly.

Here she is yawning.

Mr. Bunny Nugget.

This is my Multnomah in progress. The yarn is KnitPicks Stroll Handpaints in the colorway Make Believe. I love the colors on the yarn and the pattern is really easy too. The pink stitch marker is there because I messed up one side and it had one or two fewer stitches than the other side. Then I fixed it but I didn’t want to lose the stitch marker so I kept it on. I have about 150 stitches, maybe a little more since the last time I counted.

I made a Grumpasaurus recently. He is currently limbless and he needs a comb on his back (spikes) but other than that he is very cute.

Here’s his tail. I ran out of the darker yarn so I started using a different yarn. I’m trying to make a whole bunch of stuffies so I can use up my sock yarn.

Almost forgot! I made an orange juice pulp.

Spring Break

My spring break just started today and I get to have a cold during spring break! Yay.

My birthday is on Wednesday and I am really excited about it but I haven’t decided on my cake yet. I am either making cupcakes or lemon cake or something.

I’m looking forward to not doing a lot of school stuff next week but I have two group projects and we will probably meet for those next week. I also have math homework. Yippee.

I’ll get a lot of knitting done and I can play my ukulele a lot too. I am currently working on a Grumpasaurus. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/grumpasaurus I’m trying to use up my teeny balls of leftover sock yarn because they are annoying because they’re not really big enough to make anything with.

My camera’s batteries died again. I swear it eats batteries like nothing else. It’s really annoying.

I got some KnitPicks Stroll Handpaints yarn for Christmas and I think I’m going to make a Multnomah with it. I might start it next week because I’ll finish the Grumpasaurus and then I’ll just have my Nemesis Sock #2 to finish. I’ve got the ribbing done on it but the pattern is irritating me and I keep messing up.

I’m looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and listening to the music on my iHome and relaxing, knowing I don’t have anywhere to go. It’ll be nice.
